Are you actively hiring salespeople?

1. There have been instances of ineffective sales recruitment in the past1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

2. Salespeople are good at selling themselves. There have been discrepancies between the person we interviewed and the person we ended up recruiting.1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

3. We have a recruitment process, but it is not robust or well-documented enough (e.g. you are unable to share it with us prior to our upcoming meeting)1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

4. We do not have enough salespeople applying for open positions1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

5. At the start of the process, we spend too much time assessing candidates who are not worth the effort and time1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

6. HR or TAM teams do not necessarily have sales expertise, and they sometimes find it difficult to assess candidates’ fit early on in the process.1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

7. We have a feeling – or we've experienced – that we sometimes overlook candidates who, on paper, aren’t suitable but who would have strong potential within our organisation.1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

8. We still use CVs to shortlist candidates, but they do not provide the necessary information (mindset, grit, motivation, ability to cope with rejection, etc.)1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

9. We lack personalised questions to ask candidates based on the complexity of the role and the candidate's selling profile.1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

10. We currently have vacant sales roles that we were unable to fill before the previous incumbent(s) left1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

11. Our managers do not necessarily know how to coach new recruits effectively. They do not have a structured coaching programme in place; their approach is reactive rather than proactive.1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

12. Every manager has their own way of recruiting. We don’t have a process that everyone follows consistently.1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

13. Our onboarding is good, but it’s too generic (systems, products, culture, etc.); it doesn’t focus on our sales-specific approach (our playbook, top-of-the-funnel messaging, associated processes and milestones, questioning strategies, etc.)1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

14. Our managers may not have the right skills to coach new recruits or may lack a thorough understanding of their strengths and weaknesses on which to focus during the first 90 days.1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

15. We have already lost potential ‘A-players’ during the process — for example, to competitors.1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345

16. We don’t have a pool of candidates to draw on. Finding the right person takes time. When someone leaves, we miss out on opportunities and revenue whilst we search for suitable candidates.1 = Totally under control · 5 = High impact in time and money12345
